LEGO Robotics - Summer classes

Our Mindstorms EV3 Robotics class offers building and programming using LEGO Mindstorms EV3 Robotic Kit. Student will build LEGO Robot using the servo motors, Ultrasonic sensor, Color Sensor, Gyro sensor and touch sensor.

Each student will be provided with an invidivual computer and a robotics equipment. Each student will be given a separate EV3 robotic kit in the class to practice coding. Students can take home the projects and programs they coded. There is no 'take away' LEGO that goes home with the student.

Student will build a Driving Base using EV3 Mindstorms. Learn how to connect the robot to the laptop and download program from the laptop to the robot and run the program.

Students will learn various LEGO pieces such as axles, gears, joints, beams, connectors, etc., while building the Drive Base.

Students will use block programming, very similar to the Scratch. Students will learn to program servo motors and use encoder to drive the robot. Students will learn how to get the sensors input and use it in their program.

  • Students will learn to use input from touch sensor to avoid collision with obstruction.
  • Students will learn how to use color sensor in various modes such as Ambient, Reflective and Color sensing mode in their program and make the robot respond to the color sensor input.
  • Students will use Gyrosensor to make the robot to turn any given angle.
  • Students will use Ultrasonic sensor to identify and avoid obstruction while naviagating the robot through a maze.

  • This is a beginners course and no prior robotic or coding experience is required.

LEGO Robotics: Advanced Level - 1

Our Advanced Mindstorms EV3 Robotics class offers programing using LEGO Mindstorms EV3 Robotic Kit. Student will learn advanced programming algorithms such as Proportional Control Algorithm using Gyrosensor to make robot to in a straight line, use Ultrasonic sensor to drive robot parallel to a wall. Use Data Wire to stop as it approach a wall and use various data structures.

Creating My Block, a equvalent of functions in Java or Python. Declaring, Reading and Writing a variable. Data Types namely Boolean, Integer, Array and String and its usage. Sensor Data Logging and its usage.

Student will pair up another student to build LEGO model and practice coding. Students can take home the projects and programs they coded. There is no 'take away' LEGO that goes home with the student.

LEGO Robotics: Advanced Level-2

Our Advanced Mindstorms EV3 Robotics class offers programing using LEGO Mindstorms EV3 Robotic Kit. Student will build complex LEGO models namely Color Sorter, Cartesian Robotics Arm, Tankbot, Spinner Factory, Race Car, etc., using the newest generation servo motors, Ultrasonic sensor, Color Sensor, Gyro sensor and touch sensor.

Student will pair up another student to build LEGO model and practice coding. Students can take home the projects and programs they coded. There is no 'take away' LEGO that goes home with the student.

EV3 Mindstorms

LEGO Engineering - Beginners

In LEGO Engineering course students will build various mechanisms using LEGO Technic. Student will spend most of their time building and a little coding to bring their LEGO creation alive and test. Student will build various LEGO models like Rack-and pinion gears, Reciprocating mechanisms, Cam mechanisms, Differential gears, Transmissions etc.

Students will be asked to design and build a LEGO model and each student will pair with his buddy and build LEGO model. At the end of the class students will be asked to give a demo of their model to the rest of the class. All the materials for the course will be provided by us.

Students will learn the design, engineering, and engineering design process. Students will also learn how to use math, technology, and team work to solve real problems.

Easch student will be given a separate EV3 robotic kit in the class to practice coding. There is no 'take away' LEGO that goes home with the student. No prior LEGO technic or robotic experience is required. This is a three months course (12 classes).
